Greetings, and welcome to my site!

I have a great passion and enthusiasm for all aspects of music production; from composing, performing and conducting, to assisting and contributing to creative individuals and collectives working to achieve success in their artistic pursuits.

I have had experience in Film, Television, Video Game, Theatre and Advertising music creation, and am currently working as PA to UK based conductor Robin Browning .

Tess Kullander is a composer and musician from the Isle of Wight. She studied Music, Commercial Composition and Technology at the University of Hertfordshire, receiving a First Class Honours degree in 2008. She has performed from a young age with various groups and orchestras, both on the IOW and at University, primarily on the oboe. She has also previously been the Musical Director of (and conducted) the IOW Junior Concert Band and the Sandown and Shanklin Military Band.

Tess has worked in a number of positions within the music industry (see 'My Services' box opposite). During 2010-11 Tess worked on commission for Beatnik Games , a Video Game company based in London, and collaborated with filmmaker Jon Plant. She also continues to provide music for several film students, and the student TV station SUSUtv , at the University of Southampton. Tess currently works as Personal Management /Administration Assistant for conductor Robin Browning , and has previously worked as Publication Manager for UHRecordings Ltd . She has attended various recording sessions and concerts, providing production assistance.

'UNESCO listed the fujara - or bass overtone flute - as one of humanity's oral and intangible heritages. This book tells its fascinating history and describes in detail how it is made, played and cared for. Lavishly illustrated with colour photographs and useful diagrams, it also includes scores for twenty traditional folk tunes and information about the smaller flutes and bagpipes of central Slovakia.'

1 - The Beginning

Celestial Voyages: The Moon
This was my final degree year major project, completed in 2008. The book was authored by Jeff Provine, who kindly agreed to let me use his material for this project. The album was constructed as an accompaniment to an imaginary film/TV adaptation of the novel, basing each track on a particular scene or event.The artwork was commissioned specially for this project, and was created by artist John Godwin. 1 - The Beginning Celestial Voyages Theme - The Main Opening Titles Fading from black, the Earth and the Moon are seen hanging in space, surrounded by beautiful constellations, comets, and solar flashes. Film titles roll over the view, along with a montage of early turn-of-the-century newspapers and footage of man's infatuation with space.The scene gradually falls in on the Earth through the clouds, descending on North America. It focuses on a small farm in Ohio, where a young man is looking out at the stars through a telescope. 2 - A Long Dusty Road... (To the Chance of a Lifetime)"My story begins on a lonely, dusty road deep in the farmlands of Ohio." After a sweeping look at the country landscape, we zoom in to see Curtis Matricks walking along a deserted road in Autumn, 1899. Suddenly, a noise and plume of dust behind him heralds the arrival of a thundering, whirring, high-tech automobile. After the machine stops in a cloud of dust, the door opens to reveal Mason Star, an eccentric shipping magnate. Inside, Curtis talks to Mason and meets his daughter Mary, and is offered the chance to join a celestial voyage.3 - "Knight of the Amazon" - The Man, The Legend. Curtis is met by a disgraced English scholar - the intrepid, well-travelled, highly intelligent, brash, impulsive and cynical Dr. Lukas Conners, the linguist and cultural anthropologist of the expedition. "...an average-looking man with brown hair and brown eyes. He wore a common brown suit and had a trendy hairstyle. Everything about him seemed normal except for a strange necklace. Around his neck he had a black vine from which hung the skull of some kind of rodent." 4 - Landing / Descent into The Moon The Comet reaches its Lunar destination and deploys three small vehicles that descend to the silent, barren surface of the Moon. The crew survey the unknown landscape in a moonwalk and see Earth as a distant entity. While building a colony, the crew discover a hole that leads to a vast network of caverns beneath the surface. A team descends inside to explore the bewildering, labyrinthine new world. There, they meet, and are ambushed by, strange seven-foot ant-like creatures they call the SELENITES.5 - The Launch (From Star Tower)A gala event is held in zero gravity at the top of "Star Tower" on New Year's Eve, 1899. Dignitaries and celebrities from all over the world attend, including Queen Victoria, U.S. President McKinley, Thomas Edison, H.G. Wells and Jules Verne. After a speech by the newly knighted Sir Mason Star, the crew board the space vessel where engines are fired, and the Comet leaves dock, heading for the Moon. (The following speech was written specially by author Jeff Provine for this album and does not appear in the book.)"Your majesty, ladies, and gentlemen, this project began twenty years ago as a whimsical idea, and now has become the greatest step that mankind has ever taken. One might even call it a leap, something as momentous as the discovery of agriculture or the invention of the printing press. It is true that humanity will never be the same. Today we will at last journey toward the surface of the Moon, something man has yearned to do since he first looked up at the sky and saw the mysterious sphere staring down at him. Now when we see that sphere, man can say, 'I've been there.' " Sir Mason Star, January 1, 1900.6 - Comet in SpaceA short sound design demonstration, depicting the sound of the Comet as it floats overhead in space.7 - Celestial Voyages PreludeThis choir piece was formed in tandem to the 1st track, The Beginning, depicting the ethereal and gliding nature of space.
